Recently, Peter Bannister (one of our Senior Apprenticeship Programme Managers) spoke to the Camden Council’s press department regarding the value of part-time and flexible apprenticeships. Specifically targeting unemployed parents, Peter has been working with apprentices interested in entering the construction industry, but also facing the pressures and responsibilities of being a single parent or carer.
“We were delighted to be involved with Camden’s initiative to promote more flexible working within apprenticeships and the construction industry more broadly. We found that the contractors we worked with were extremely supportive and happy to accommodate. Hopefully promoting more flexible working patterns will go some way to helping to address the diversity issues currently facing the sector.”
Part-time and flexible apprentices are absolutely part of Camden Council’s mainstream apprenticeship offer and it is working on encouraging local employers to consider them as options for their apprentices.
