The role of contracting operations management is a crucial one in the smooth running of projects within the construction industry.

Since the recent updates to the Construction Design Management Regulations, workers, supervisors and managers have to now be competent, qualified and able to prove the skills they possess are in accordance with regulations. That’s where this NVQ assessment can help you prove you have the skills and knowledge that you need to work in this sector.

 

Who Is It For?

This is a Level 6 NVQ assessment, and is best suited to those who are already in charge of people on site and have to make important decisions as part of their daily role.

 

Do you need any prior qualifications?

No prior qualifications are needed but an initial assessment at your place of work is required to see if you meet the requirements or can demonstrate your experience.

To achieve this Level 6 assessment, you must have a strong understanding of all the requirements and knowledge necessary, as well as excellent industry knowledge. This will include the ability to make decisions that require the correct judgement throughout any project, to solve problems efficiently, and to transfer and adapt the skills you use on a daily basis to a variety of on-site scenarios.

 

How Does It Work?

A member of our team will conduct workplace observations on site and will ensure that observations are conducted with minimal interference. This process will be outlined in comprehensive delivery plans, and fully explained prior to initial workplace assessments.

NVQ qualifications recognise a variety of different evidence types when it comes to the assessment process. A combination of visual assessment, professional discussion and witness testimony. Assessment is thorough in reflecting the candidate’s knowledge and skill.

To achieve this NVQ assessment level, evidence of a wide variety of skills including the ability to work with a team, organise workplace operations and ensuring health and safety compliance are required.

 

Where Do I Go?

NVQ’s are carried out on site.

 

Assessment

Our assessors will be evaluating whether the candidate is able to showcase the following skills and attributes:

  • Understand the importance of health and safety practices in the workplace and how to maintain these standards.
  • Be able to confidently take charge of leadership processes and meetings.
  • Use their skills honed over the years to optimise on-site activity, including identifying and evaluating project requirements.
  • Understand strategic supply chain management and the importance of strong sourcing relationships.
  • Possess a strong understanding of project requirements and documentation required, including work methods and contracts.

In order to successfully complete this Level 6 NVQ qualification, candidates must achieve a minimum of 81 credits, including 76 at Level 6 or above. 31 of these must be from mandatory units, with the remaining 50 credits coming from optional areas.
