Salary: £170 - £180 p/week
Carpenters and joiners make and install the wooden fixtures and fittings found in household and commercial construction projects.
To become a carpenter or joiner you will need to have an eye for detail. You will also need good maths skills for measuring and working out angles. As a carpenter you’ll need to follow technical drawings and plans.
As a carpenter or joiner, you may work in one or more of the following areas:
You will work on site for four days per week and attend college for one day a week. Most site hours are Monday to Friday, 08.00-17.00.
Depending on previous experience and/or qualifications this apprenticeship will be for a minimum of 12 months. On completion of NVQ L2 in carpentry you will gain your blue trade specific CSCS card which enables you to work as a qualified Carpenter.
K10 will enrol and fund your qualifications through a SFA funded training provider.
You will need to have at least Level 2 in Functional skills or GSCE grade D or above in English, Maths and ICT. It will be an advantage if you have already completed technical certificates in carpentry or multi-skills, have previous related work experience, CSCS and/or PASMA.
